1920s Antique Silk Nightgown ~ off White Satin Ivory Art Deco Lingerie ~Vintage Size Small

This gorgeous garment is an antique 1920s step-in chemise (also frequently referred to as a teddy or combination suit), which served as a revolutionary foundation piece during the Roaring Twenties flapper era.
Prior to the 1920s, women wore up to eleven layers of restrictive underwear, including heavily boned corsets. As boxy, dropped-waist flapper dresses grew popular, lingerie evolved to be light, airy, and minimal.
This is built with a completely straight, relaxed cut that mimics the iconic rectangular fashion of the decade. It deliberately skims over the curves rather than cinching them. The "Step-In" Mechanism: This all-in-one style combines a camisole top and loose knickers into a single piece. While "envelope" chemises featured buttons or snaps at the crotch, true step-ins often used an open, breezy fabric flap or a wide split-leg construction designed for easy wear and unrestrained movement on the dance floor.
Fabric: It is crafted from fine silk, which was highly prized for its luxury feel and fluid drape underneath thin garments.
Features a beautiful horizontal band of sheer netting lace accented with floral embroidery. You can also spot a thin woven drawstring ribbon at the top of the bust, a functional vintage feature used to adjust the fit across the chest.
The Hemline: Styled with fluttery ruffled leg openings, often called "wings" or tap pant leg trims, which added a touch of movement and romance to an otherwise boxy undergarment
