This garment is an authentic 1920s step-in teddy (also historically referred to as a camiknicker or envelope chemise).
Silhouette: During the 1920s flapper era, women abandoned heavily structured Edwardian corsets in favor of loose, straight-cut clothing. This step-in was designed as an all-in-one undergarment that combined a camisole top with looser knickers underneath. It allowed garments to skim the body seamlessly without adding bulk or waistlines.
Features: This specific piece is made of a very sheer, lightweight fabric (likely silk chiffon) trimmed with delicate ecru lace and geometric accent panels at the bust. It features classic wide lace straps, a gathered empire waist, and a decorative silk ribbon tie with a central floral accent.

CONDITION: NEW OLD STOCK ANTIQUE CONDITION. The lingerie had never been washed. I took note of a couple of faint spots, so after I photographed it, I hand washed and steamed. * please use product appropriate for Vintage clothing if attempting to hand launder in the future .

NOTABLE ISSUES: one of the spots that I laundered just barely remains - it does not detract from the beauty of the garment. the rosette at the top of the Ribbon strands has frayed. a few loose threads here or there that could be trimmed.
